Resource Economics and the Circular Economy [Current Topic]
Bachelor Course (B.Sc.)
This course provides an introduction into the concept of circular economy in the context of resource economics by providing theoretical background knowledge on the circular economy, its necessity as well as economic relevance and circular business models. It also provides information on the political context, the current status quo in different countries and industries as well as challenges of the transition process.
The goal is for students to understand the theory and model of circular economy as well as the concepts connected to the transformation towards more circularity. Students should be able to understand how circular economy is needed to address the issue of climate change, how it is embedded in political regulations and frameworks, how business model innovations can help in the transformation process and which strategies and measures exist in order to increase resource efficiency.
